From Struggle to Sanctuary: A Move-in to Remember

Move-in 219

Designs Leads: Nicole Herweck & Ana Wilson

Driver: Don Spetter

Another July move-in is in the books! What a fun time everyone had welcoming an Army vet and her three small children home this week! There were hugs to be had as the children explored their rooms for the first time. Our Midwest Veteran’s Center client had been living in a hotel trying to get her life back on track. We stepped in to support her by furnishing her new place. With the help of Zelda’s Kitchen Witches, our mom now has everything she needs to fulfill her love of cooking.  Special thanks to Nicole and Don Herweck for providing her with a new grill!  Parties on the patio will be on this family’s agenda. Our volunteers, Don Herweck, Jill Robinson, Parker Robinson, Julie Saravia, Linda McMahon & husband, Lorenza Dinatale, Marilyn & Tom Cahill, Megan Albee and her daughter, and Don Spetter, did an amazing job of unloading the truck, putting together four beds and all the other furnishings in only 2.5 hours! The team was fortunate to meet the family after the move and see the joy in their expressions as they toured the home. The kids were especially happy with all the treats provided by Linda Farley. Those baskets were a hit! Thank you also, Linda Farley, for the darling patio furniture. We know they are looking forward to sunny days ahead.  Linda was paying it forward in honor of a generous loving friend whose life she wishes to honor. As always, kudos to all of you making a difference in our clients’ lives by donating to H2H! An added thanks to Tom Davis for working behind the scenes to spruce up the daughter's chair!.The colored pencil spindles were a sweet touch.
